MEET YOUR ASSISTANT PROPERTY MANAGER, RIKKI SPENCER
MEET YOUR ASSISTANT PROPERTY MANAGER, RIKKI SPENCER

Today we have the pleasure of introducing the newest member of our Property Management team, Rikki Spencer! Starting a new job is never easy, let alone in the middle of a pandemic. But with Rikki’s eagerness to learn and high motivation, she has quickly become an invaluable asset to the team.

Read on as we chat with Rikki about her transition into Real Estate and her advice on the essentials when attending private inspections.

What made you decide to pursue a career in Real Estate?
When I was younger, my idea of a fun weekend out was visiting display homes with my parents. As I got older, this turned into attending open homes as I made my way into the rental market. As you can see, I've always had a genuine interest in Real Estate throughout my life. From a career in Fashion Buying, I decided to make the jump over to the Real Estate world and work alongside this interest. I have been able to apply my communication, analytical and organisational skills to this new role and have been embracing a very welcome change!

What do you love most about working as an Assistant Property Manager?
I love getting out and seeing the properties. I take pride in understanding what lifestyle the property offers and all the amazing facilities waiting to be used by a new tenant. It is really exciting to show this to a prospective tenant and show them what their new lease beholds! Working in Docklands and the surrounding suburbs we have a range of fantastic properties with amazing views and state of the art amenities and I count myself very lucky to be working in these environments.

What has it been like starting a new job during a pandemic?
Starting a new job during a pandemic is a risky move, however, after completing my Agents Representative Certificate I knew this was the right choice and a career I wanted to get started in right away! The team at Lucas are so incredible that the transition was smooth, and I was welcomed into the team straight away. Luckily for myself, I had a few weeks to get out and visit properties and scrub up on my knowledge of the facilities before we entered Stage 4 restrictions and began working from home. As a company, Lucas Real Estate has set up fantastic measures to keep us all connected, whether it’s the Property Management team morning check video chat or after work zoom calls to cook up a fantastic meal together!

What’s your advice on the essentials when attending a private inspection?
My best advice is to utilise the time you have in the property. Currently, we are operating private inspections of 15-minute appointments with a prospective tenant and one other household or family member if they choose. If you have furniture that is large or even a bed frame that must fit your next bedroom, bring along a tape measure with you and jot down measurements in your phone! It’s much easier than trying to step it out! I always recommend some background research on the area for important aspects such as public transport, supermarkets etc to ensure the property location is also a right fit before visiting the property.
